Who We Are
At Potter’s Touch School, we believe every child is a masterpiece in progress — full of potential, creativity, and purpose.
Brief History
Potter’s Touch High School (PTHS), established in 2015, is a distinguished day and boarding co-educational secondary school located in Yenagoa, the capital city of Bayelsa State, Nigeria. Since its inception, the school has carved a solid reputation as an institution committed to excellence, character formation, innovation, and world-class education. Guided by the motto “Refining for Greatness,” PTHS goes beyond traditional academics by nurturing leaders equipped with competence, creativity, character, and global relevance.
At the heart of Potter’s Touch High School is a clear and future-focused educational vision: to develop responsible, productive, and lifelong learners capable of thriving in an ever-changing world. Our commitment to modern learning approaches ensures that students gain both strong academic foundations and the essential life skills needed to succeed in universities, careers, and diverse global environments.
We believe that every child possesses unique abilities and untapped potential. This belief drives our child-centred approach, where the intellectual, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of learners are carefully supported. This holistic philosophy shapes our teaching methods, mentoring systems, community service initiatives, and the overall culture of care that defines PTHS.
Our campus sits on a serene and secure expanse carefully designed to be a “home away from home” for students from diverse cultural, socio-economic, and religious backgrounds. The environment promotes peace, safety, and belonging—qualities essential for meaningful and effective learning.
Academic Excellence
Potter’s Touch High School is also a proud British Council Partner School and a recognised Cambridge International School in Nigeria. These affiliations reflect our commitment to world-class standards and global best practices. Our reputation for integrity, discipline, and innovation has made PTHS a trusted choice for parents seeking an institution capable of preparing their children for success both locally and internationally.
In 2023, the Centre for Ethics and Self Value Orientation (CESVO), after an independent assessment of reputable schools across Nigeria, ranked PTHS 1st in the South-South region and 5th nationally, listing the school among the Top 100 Highly Rated Ethically Responsible Private Schools in Nigeria (2022/2023)—a testament to our unwavering values and consistent performance.

Dr. B. V. Brisibi
Founder
Through her foundation, Find-A-Need Foundation she has promoted environmental awareness in schools since 2013. Pupils from all over the state write essays, proffering solutions on topics relating to climate change and the best essays are given awards and cash prizes including tuition based scholarships. The NGO has also been involved in promoting sustainable business practices through grants to small businesses that demonstrate environmental friendly practices.
In 2014 she founded Myrtle International School with the vision to develop creative, independent and confident lifelong leaders that can succeed in a dynamic world. As founder and Director of the school, she has applied and deployed her varied skills and expertise in the development and effectiveness of the school. Her involvement in maintaining the standard cutting across performance management, quality control in teaching and learning, curriculum development and planning, training, and dispute resolution. The school has grown to over 650 pupils and is known for its engaging extra-curricular activities and academic excellence. The school is arguably the best primary school in Bayelsa state and has won several awards including 2nd Runner up nationwide in the National Creative Writing Competition in 2021 among others.
Later in 2015, she founded Potter’s Touch High School by extending the vision (and mission), to provide world-class education that develops productive and responsible lifelong learners that can succeed in an ever-changing world. This is achieved through modern learning approaches and empowering students with lifelong skills to contribute meaningfully to society. With a student population of over 200 students, it has become a reference point in Bayelsa State for quality education that has placed the State on the map of destinations for good schools in Nigeria. The school has pioneered the introduction of the different international certificate examinations and leadership programmes in the state including the International General Certificate Secondary Education (IGCSE). It is also a pioneer centre for the International English Language Testing Skills (IELTS) exams and leadership programmes including the International Award for Young Persons in Nigeria Awards, and Global Social Leaders (GSL) projects where students contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). With most of its students going on to study professional courses in top universities in Nigeria, and abroad.
She believes that effective people can translate to effective leaders who not only contribute to effective organizations but to a better world through their individual and collective efforts. Thus she believes that leadership skills can be developed in every child and leadership skills are taught in both schools. For her, a thriving and positive school culture not only inspires students to attain high academic performance and instil good morals, but also nurtures the attitude of leadership. Thus she has been dedicated and committed to inculcating leadership skills in pupils by translating the 7habits of highly effective people into modules and personally involved in the delivery of these lessons in her leadership classes as part of the holistic education of every child. In 2018, she was instrumental in training of about 50 teachers in the teacher knowledge test and examination with the British council and has continued to invest in teacher training. She is a mediator and a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators and has been involved in workplace dispute resolution.
